Delivering Business Support

We have made excellent progress in the North East in simplifying business support; throughout the process we have ensured that there is good communication between funders, deliverers and users of business support and that we have kept the business community aware and involved in our approach to simplification.

To simplify business support in the region, we have:

• Reviewed the provision of business support in the North East to ensure that we have high quality support for all, with targeted support where appropriate and that the support is easier to access.  This has enhanced economic impact by reducing duplication, increasing alignment, improving procurement and enhancing the co-ordination of business support. 

• Developed the Solutions for Business Portfolio alongside Government to make sure that it responds to business requirements where there is market failure and provides innovative solutions that recognise complex needs and differences across the region. 

• Enhanced the regional Business Link Service to undertake its role as primary access channel for all publicly funded support. Considerable work has been carried out to develop the service in order to enhance the customer experience.  Work has also been undertaken to put in place effective referral relationships between all Solutions for Business deliverers and the Business Link service. 

• Worked alongside partners to implement the Solutions for Business brand to ensure that all publicly funded support has a consistent look and feel, making it easier for the customer to recognise and take up.
